Recycling Last year, my experiments with reusing old water bottles

Recycling

water bottle drainage

Last year, my experiments with reusing old water bottles as mini cloches and water wells did not succeed very well. The cloches filled with water (with or without caps on) drowning their charges, and the water wells spilled their resevoirs immediately, parching theirs.

Now that I have the greenhouse, the water bottles are turning into very nice cheap pots for seedlings. I drill a few holes in the bottom with the mini-rotary tool then I use a utility knife to cut off the tops. These are working quite well!

Monica, I've never met a Pittosporum which has dropped its leaves. Those that I grow are all very robustly evergreen. I haven't checked the botanical books, though!

I can't talk about hardy, but I can certainly praise Pittosporums for tolerating neglect and not much water!
cheers
